Welcome volunteers!

  Thank you for volunteering at the Down Syndrome Association of Houston's 12th Annual Houston Buddy Walk scheduled for Saturday November 10, 2012 at the Diamond Lot in Minute Maid Park.

It takes an incredible group of volunteers to make this an unforgettable event to over 5,000 supporters of individuals with Down syndrome. We need approximately 300 energetic volunteers at this event so please help us spread the word.  Our day starts at 7am with set up and it ends at 2pm with tear down.   This year we also have different shifts to volunteer so please make sure you pick your desired shift when registering.  We also have a brand new site JUST for volunteers! so if you are trying to register as a regular walker you are NOT in the right page. Please click on the Buddy Walk logo above and that will take you to the correct registration page.

Again we thank you for volunteering for this great event as we try to be the largest Down syndrome celebration in Texas!

T-Shirt Pick Up information

  Volunteer T-Shirts:
Due to the great response from our community, we might not have enough shirts to give to all volunteers. If you were able to pick your shirt up on Saturday, we thank you.  For those of you who haven't, we will have them at the event on first come first serve basis. We know that many of you are volunteering in a group, so i highly encourage you to wear your group shirts.  That will help us identify you as well as promote your school's organization.

For the day of the event, please check in at the volunteer booth. that is where your assignment will be posted.  We are trying to keep all the groups together as much as possible and with over 500 volunteers, we will have many of you be our path monitors. This is a very important position because you will be cheering for all of the supporters that came out and do the walk.  You will be asked to clap and cheer for the walkers, do high fives and make noise!  So if you have noise makers, bring them with you!

How to become a Buddy Walk Volunteer

 
The deadline to register for the 12th Annual Houston Buddy Walk is Thursday Nov 8 at 10 pm. 

You can sign up to be a volunteer to the 12th Annual Houston Buddy Walk as an individual volunteer or you can register a group of volunteers.

Individual volunteers:
Please register by clicking on the Register button above and selecting:
  • Volunteer shift (1,2 or 3)
  • Not a member of a team
  • personal information (name, address, e-mail, shirt size) and don't forget to agree to the waiver of liability
  • Donation amount can be any if you would like to support our individuals with Down syndrome
  • and last - Complete registration
Group Volunteers:
Please register by clicking on the Register button above and selecting:
  • Volunteer shift (1,2 or 3)
  • Member of a team - and select a team or
  • Create a new team and type in the name
  • personal information (name, address, e-mail, shirt size) and don't forget to agree to the waiver of liability
  • Donation amount can be any if you would like to support our individuals with Down syndrome
  • and last - you can Complete registration or register another
  • Once the Group leader has registered you will be able to customize your own page with your groups volunteer information as well as send the link to others in your group to sign up

This shift will be responsible for:
