Step Up for Down Syndrome

Step Up for Down Syndrome is a family fun event and fundraiser for the Down Syndrome Group of the Ozarks designed to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome in Southwest Missouri. Join us for fun, games, clowns, music, crafts, snacks and then the walk in the parade over to the Springfield Cardinals game where                               we will get to walk to field.


Schedule of Events

 
  • 2:00 P.M. Doors Open! ( Fireworks at the Field is the same day and parking may be limited. Be sure to arrive early as they start at 3:00 p.m.)
  • 2:15 P.M. Carnival Games, Stage Entertainment by Cajun Connection, Stage of Possibilites, Popcorn, Cotton Candy, and more!
  • 3:30 P.M. Announcments of Champion Team Winners
  • 4:00 P.M. Parade begins from Expo Center to Hammons Field walk onto the field and around it to thousands of spectators before taking our seats for the Springfield Cardinals game. You must be there by the time we all leave to participate in the parade around the bases.
  • 5:10 P.M. Springfield Cardinals game begins; DSGO silent auction
  • 9:00 P.M."Fireworks at the Field" presented by Spfd Cardinals and Downtown Spfd

Come join us at the fair for games, clowns, stage performance, events, stage of possibilities, resources, food, family, and fun all under one roof.  Stay until the end of the Springfield Cardinals Game 
and enjoy the annual "Fireworks at the Field" event.
What a way to end the night with a "BANG"!

Event Schedule:
Carnival @ Expo Center:  2 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Parade Line Up:  3:50 p.m. 
Springfield Cardinals Game:  5:10 p.m.

DSGO will be hosting two competitions to reward those that go above and beyond and raise funds early.  Start making your list of who you want to ask.  Official packets and flyers coming soon!

How do I participate?
All you have to do is start your
fundraising efforts early.

The team with the most funds
between now and the dates below wins.

 *1st Competition will close on March 27th (note change from 21st)

How Do I Get Involved?

Team Captain:  You are a Team Captain if you are registering two or more individuals to participate in the 7th annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Event. A Team Captain is the person who is excited about Step Up and is anxious to share information to others and provide their family, friends, co-workers and others with the opportunity to learn about Down syndrome and to raise funds for programs and services in Southwest Missouri.We have several pages designed to answer all your questions about fundraising for your team, recruiting teammates, and raising awareness in the community.   

Grand Club:

What is the Grand Club?

The Grand Club is a special membership for participants of Step Up for Down syndrome who raise at least $1,500 for Step Up. 

We will recognize those individuals who go above and beyond by raising $1,000 or more by inviting them to join the Grand Club and by printing a personalized banner for your team at the walk 

                             

EVEN BETTER....Reach that amout and receive your team’s name on your shirt! Easy...just raise and collect $1,500 by May 15th you can even turn in at the DSGO picnic on May 10th. 

NOW Extended through May 25th!!!!!

May 16th~June 1st: $20  

June 2nd~28th (Day of Event):  $25

Who We Are

 

The Down Syndrome Group of the Ozarks began in 2006 with a small but dedicated group of parents and professionals. Our mission to build a network of support for individuals with Down syndrome and those who love and serve them in Southwest Missouri.  This local non-profit organization relies totally on grants and fundraising efforts to bring programs and services to Southwest Missouri. We promote a positive image of individuals with Down syndrome through education and community awareness. You can make a difference!

2014 Goals for DSGO:

  • Opening the doors of communication by working directly with the area hospitals and physicians to ensure that the most up-to-date information is available.  
  • Monthly parenting classes offering medical, social, and educational topics. (not only parents of children with Down syndrome, but other disabilities as well)
  • Social awareness about more than just the disability side of Down syndrome - but the the amazing abilities that exist too!

1) Pregame event activities are held at Springfield Expo Center.

2) Online Registration ends Friday June 15th but you can register the day of the event and still receive a ticket to the game and a T-shirt.

3) If you are PAID in full by Friday June 1st. You are illegible to pick up your T-shirts before the game.  Early T-shirt Pick up for registrations that are PAID for will be held on Wednesday June 25th, 2014 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on the day of the event, Saturday July 28th from 9AM-Noon.  Pick up location may change.  Please double website and on here before heading out. TEAM CAPTAINS or one designated person from each team only please.

4) We will be taking early registrations at Early t-shirt pick up. TEAM CAPTAINS or one designated person from each team only please.

5) All funds need to be turned into the DSGO office by Friday, June 20th to count for Team Prizes.  DSGO offices hours the week of June 16th-20th will be from 2-5 pm only. Donations will be received online until 5:00 PM on the Friday, June 20th.  Once the team winners have been identified, Donations will re-open online on Monday June, 22nd.
