Welcome to Team Alison's Angels

Meet Alison Faith Holmes- 9 month old bundle of JOY and baby born with Down syndrome.  Alison Faith was born right on time after a text book pregnancy. but she had a secret she was keeping from her parents and her doctors.  God knitted her together with an extra special chromosomeJ  She shared her secret about twelve hours after her birth with her mommy and daddy.  They were just fine with that- more to love is what they thought.  24 hours after her birth the difficult news arrived - Alison had a severe heart defect called an Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD or AV Canal Defect).  Alison was placed in the NICU and her parents were so worried about their beautiful girl.  She fought and fought hard (as did her mommy and daddy) to gain weight and stay healthy enough for surgery.  Just after celebrating the 2011 New Year, at 9 weeks old Alison had her beautiful heart repaired.  Alison has been blessed with many angels, on earth and in Heaven, praying and caring for her and her family.  She is a lucky little girl.  After only four days in the hospital Alison, recovering in record time, was released to go home from Cook Children's hospital with a new heart!!

Alison loves that her family believes in her so much and in other people with extra special chromosomes.  She is hoping you will support the 2011 Buddy Walk and help bring light to those living with Down Syndrome and their families.  All proceeds benefit the Down Syndrome Partnership of Tarrant County which supports people with Down Syndrome living in Tarrant County and surrounding areas.

Alison cordially invites you to join her team `Alison's Angels' in the 2011 Down Syndrome Partnership of Tarrant County's Buddy Walk on October 15th, 2011 at 10:00 AM CST.    Our team will have T-shirts made- Purple is our Signature color so you guys out there prepare to wear the royal colorJ    If you can't join us for the walk, please consider donating to the cause.  Let's celebrate our likeness and not focus on what makes us different.

If you have any questions please email Alison's mommy at mistyholmes@gmail.com.

Thank you and God Bless you!

The Buddy Walkr was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to nearly 300 walks planned for 2011 worldwide. In 2010, more than $11.2 million was raised nationwide to benefit local programs and services, as well as the national advocacy and public awareness initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome.

Proceeds from the Tarrant County Buddy Walk benefit the Down Syndrome Partnership of Tarrant County (DSPTC) with a portion of the proceeds going to Green Oaks School.  See more information about these worthy programs at www.dsptc.org and www.greenoaksschool.org.
