When our daughter Izabella was two days old she was diagnosed with down syndrome, it is a syndrome that affects one in every 691 births. At first we were devastated! The thought of having a child with special needs was the scariest thing to think about! Will she be healthy? Can we properly raise her and give her everything she needs??? Yet, as the days went by the worries began to fade and instead of dwelling on the negative we decided to embrace all the positives. She is perfect! She is Healthy and best part of all she is OURS!!!! We became so blessed the day she came into our lives! Any child and every child is a blessing! I can't even begin to tell you how much happiness Izabella has brought into our lives and the lives of our family and friends.
Immediatly after we found about Izabella's diagnoses the hospital set us up with a social worker who showed us all the help that is available. We immediatly got set up with the early developement network, Bella has been in theraphy since she was a month and a half old! She has come so far and now instead of fearing her future, we embrace everyday and we are so excited to see her grow!
Last October we joined the Step Up For Down Syndrome walk, Our team name is Izabella's Voice. As a parent of a child with special needs we are her advocates! We are helping to give her a voice, hence the team name Izabella's Voice!
We have once again joined the walk for this October and I am writing this to ask if any of you would like to join our team or make a donation to DSAF Nebraska. All donations go to education! Getting information out to the parents of kids with special needs and to help pay for programs that help all these awesome children!!
HELP US HELP IZABELLA AND SO MANY MORE AS WE WALK OUR WAY TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE!!!!
