Double Trouble - Team Captain: Toni Harrison
Come and walk with Double Trouble on October 29, 2011 at the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk & Festival!

On October 29, family and friends will be participate in the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Walk is an opportunity for our team "Double Trouble" to acknowledge us and other individuals that have Down syndrome.  This event celebrates inclusion and acceptance for people with  Down syndrome and recognition of their many gifts, talents and contributions to society. It is the primary fundraiser for the Down Syndrome Guild of Kansas City that provides invaluable support and resources to our family and over 1,100 families, 22 hospitals, 45 school districts and countless service providers in Kansas and Missouri.  If you have contributed in the past - thank you!

In 2010, the Kansas City Walk raised over $425,000 and over 300 teams, 6,800 walkers, and 400 volunteers participated, making it one of the largest in the nation!

Noah is 13 and in 8th grade and Eli is 11 and in 6th grade.  This spring, we competed in Missouri Special Olympics regional and state swimming meet again. Noah swam in the 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly and a relay. Eli swam in the 200m freestlye, 100m freestlye, 50m freestyle and a relay. Noah's favorite race is the butterfly and Eli's is the freestyle.  The longer the race for Eli, the better!  We do compete in a lot of other sports, but swimming tops them all!

When not swimming in the summer and winter we enjoy camping, outdoor activities and going to waterparks.  We try to go camping at least once a month from April through October!  We have also got involved with the Down Syndrome Guild STARS program, which provides weekly activities both educational and fun for teens.  We do a lot of fun activities and are able to spend time with other kids that also have Down syndrome.

Will you consider walking with our team or making a donation?

Never forget that your fundraising efforts truly impact people with Down syndrome, their families and the professionals who support them.

If you can't make the walk, making a donation to the team is simple; just click on the "Donation to the Double Trouble" link.

Each step you take and every dollar you raise will help the DSG continue to provide vital programs and services offering educational and social support to people with Down syndrome, their families and the professionals who serve them. Important work waits to be done to enhance research, education and advocacy programs. Your support is critical in making these programs a reality.
